Why Joan Rivers Was a Sales Superstar

Today we are mourning the loss of Comedian Joan Rivers.

imageFor the the past 50 years she entertained and at times offended audiences. The reason she was a sales superstar is because she achieved success by implementing the same strategies top producers and entrepreneurs use to succeed. They are:

1. Never Take NO For an Answer: Joan was hired and fired many times. People said she could not succeed and had no reason being on stage. She never let that stop her. She relied on her inner strength and confidence to keep going out there day in and day out to make a difference. Sometimes she succeeded and sometimes she failed. But, As we stand here today we can all agree her life was a tremendous success!

POINT: Never let rejection stop you or deter you from achieving your life’s goals.

2. Beware the Empty Calendar: The thing that drove Joan is the fear of waking up one day and seeing her calendar empty. This would mean that nobody wanted her, that she was not good enough and that she was failing. An empty calendar to me is the same as an empty pipeline.

POINT: Full pipelines leads to more business, higher esteem and self- confidence. Go fill your pipeline and be motivated by the fear of what an empty pipeline would mean to you.

3. Humility and Helping Others is the Key to Success: While Joan did crack jokes at the expense of others she was just as brutal on herself. She never took herself too seriously and was always humbled to know that at any moment she could lose it all.  Joan was also grateful for what she had and if life ended at a moment’s notice, she told her daughter that would be okay because she had a great life. She also went out of her way to help others, which is one of the main talking points people are referring to when they discuss the life of Joan Rivers.

POINT: Do you take yourself too seriously? Are you out for only yourself or do you go out of your way to help others? How about changing your paradigm from having to sell something to helping others achieve their goals. Help others get to where they need to go and you in turn will achiever greater success than you ever thought was possible.
